Get Ready to Shine in 'The 8th Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2025'!

The countdown has begun! Are you a mathematics enthusiast in Malaysia, eager to showcase your skills and passion for mathematical problem-solving? Mathematics is more than just numbers and equations — it is a universal language that shapes the way we understand the world. For young minds with a passion for logical thinking and problem-solving, mathematics offers endless opportunities to explore, innovate, and excel.

If you are a primary, secondary, or pre-university student in Malaysia who loves mathematics, then mark your calendars for 'The 8th Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2025', one of the most prestigious mathematics competitions in the country. Scheduled to take place from 22nd to 27th July 2025, this championship promises to be an exciting and rewarding experience for all participants.

A Championship Like No Other

Since its inception in 2017, the Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championships, organised by the Ngie Hin Enterprise Company, has grown into one of the most respected mathematics competitions in the country. It is not just about winning medals or titles; it is about inspiring a love for mathematics and encouraging students to push their boundaries. The championship has become a stepping stone for many young mathematicians, helping them build confidence and prepare for future academic challenges.

In the year 2025, the mathematics championship will feature 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 1 hour and 30 minutes. What sets this competition apart is its close alignment with the Malaysian school syllabus, making it accessible to all students in Malaysia without requiring specialised training. The championship questions are tailored to different difficulty levels according to students' school years, ensuring a fair challenge for everyone. Additionally, the championship questions will be available in three languages: English, Malay Language, and Simplified Chinese.

A Championship with Fairness and Inclusivity

One of the standout features of the Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championships is its commitment to fairness and inclusivity. The competition is designed to be accessible to all students, regardless of their background or level of mathematical training. The competition questions are carefully crafted to cater to different skill levels, ensuring that every participant has a fair chance to succeed.

The 2025 competition will be conducted in two modes:

  • Paper-Based Mode (22nd - 25th July 2025): Participants will sit for the competition in their schools, supervised by their teachers. They will complete their answers on paper but submit them online after the competition.
  • Fully Online Mode (26th - 27th July 2025): Participants will attend the competition from home or a preferred venue using digital question papers and online answer sheets. Camera supervision is expected to be implemented, and participants will be monitored by the competition system via their cameras.

Each participating school is free to choose one mode of competition for all its participants.

A Championship Designed for All

'The 8th Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2025' is a celebration of mathematical talent and a platform for students to showcase their mathematical skills. It is designed to cater to all levels of expertise. Whether you are a primary school student just beginning your mathematical journey or a secondary school student preparing for higher education, this championship offers you a chance to improve your skills in mathematical problem-solving and compete with your peers from other schools.

This championship is open to all the primary, secondary, and pre-university students in Malaysia. Whether you are from a government school, private education institution, matriculation college, private college, international school, or are home-schooled, this is your chance to shine. Notably, surrogate participants and registrations from tuition centres are both accepted, which means that students can register through another school or tuition centre if their original school does not take part in this championship. Each participating school must register a minimum of three participants, though there is no upper limit.

A Championship that Provides the Best Opportunity

If you are still thinking of reasons to join the championship, please be informed that 'The 8th Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2025' is not just a mathematics competition — it is the best opportunity for students to challenge themselves, learn, and grow. Here are some of the key benefits of participating:

  • Recognition and Awards: All participants will receive a printed certificate, and top performers will be awarded medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Consolation). These awards are not just tokens of achievement; they are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students. Additionally, secondary school students who excel in the competition may be eligible for Special Titles of Mathematics, such as the Malaysia National Grandmaster of Mathematics (MY-NGMM), which can be a valuable addition to their academic portfolios.
  • Compete and Connect: The championship brings together students from all over Malaysia, fostering a spirit of healthy competition, and providing a unique opportunity for participants to gauge their mathematical skills and compete with their peers from different regions of the country.
  • Ignite and Sharpen: By participating in this championship, students can ignite their interest in mathematics and sharpen their mathematical skills. The championship features 30 multiple-choice questions divided into three sections of varying difficulty levels. Participants will have 1 hour and 30 minutes to solve these mathematics problems, which test their ability to think critically and apply mathematical concepts creatively.
  • Preparation for Future Exams: The championship syllabus is closely aligned with the Malaysian school curriculum, making it an excellent opportunity for the participating students to revise and reinforce what they have learned in school. The competition also serves as a great preparation tool for school and public mathematics examinations.
